Personal project turned startup, Envisage Planner seeks to help college students plan their college path to success.
After growing frustrated with the lack of quality tools avalible to help me on my own planning, I began building my own during the January Term of 2020. Using the Vue framework, Vuetify component library, and Vuex state management, I made a prototype web app web app to demonstrate some of my initial ideas.
After showing some professors and peers, this quickly became more than a personal project. I then began many months of meeting and talking with people to develop the idea and pursue opportunities to solve this problem. Eventually, after winning the Taylor University shark tank, Envisage started to gain support across the Taylor Community. I was soon able to raise funding for a summer of coding. In early 2021, I hired 2 software engineers for the summer, and got several students to work on Envisage for class credit.
After a semester of preparation and design, we broke ground on coding our app in May. The following months were a mad rush of coding, designing our data structures and flow, structuring the best tech stack, refining our user experience, manually obtaining the data while trying to get Taylor to give us the real stuff, and fixing an endless flow of bugs. We launched our app for all Taylor students on August 18.
